INTRODUCTION:
“Exploring Neuroscience: A Quiz for Future Biotechnologists” is an engaging and informative event designed to stimulate curiosity and enhance the knowledge of undergraduate biotechnology students in various fields, including neuroscience, biotechnology, life sciences, clinical sciences, history, sports, and current trends.
The upcoming event is being organized as part of the global Brain Awareness Week by the Kathmandu Center for Genomics and Research Laboratory (KCGRL) and the Neuroscience Society of Nepal (NSN). This initiative is supported by the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and the Dana Foundation. The event will be hosted in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology at Himalayan WhiteHouse International College, Kathmandu, Nepal.
The primary objective of this event is to enhance public understanding of brain research, its significance, and its interdisciplinary applications across various scientific domains. By bringing together experts, researchers, and students, the program aims to foster knowledge exchange, inspire interest in neuroscience, and highlight recent advancements in the field.
OBJECTIVE:
- This quiz competition is designed to enhance the knowledge and understanding of life sciences, biotechnology, clinical science, neuroscience, history, music, art, sports, recent trends among biotechnology students.
- It aims to foster interdisciplinary thinking, particularly between biotechnology, microbiology, life sciences, neuroscience, and related disciplines.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
Eligibility:
- Participants must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Biotechnology, microbiology, and related disciplines.
- The competition is open to students from colleges/universities across Nepal
Team Formation:
- Each team must consist of three members, with the inclusion of at least one female participant being mandatory. (Note: Participants are required to present a valid Student ID card from their respective college.)
- Team members must belong to the same institution.
Registration:
- All teams are required to register either online or in person by the deadline of February 25, 2025.

- Registration is free of charge.
- Late registrations will not be entertained.
Quiz Format:
The competition will have three rounds:
Preliminary Round, Semi-final Round, Final Round: Rapid-fire.
Quiz Content:
Questions will cover topics such as:
- Basic Biotechnology, life science, and neuroscience concepts.
- General knowledge, current affairs, history, sports, arts, and recent trends.
Time Management:
- Teams must adhere to the time limits set for each round.
- Delays may lead to disqualification.
Judging Criteria:
- Judges’ decisions will be final and binding.
- Points will be awarded for correct answers, with penalties for incorrect ones in certain rounds.
Code of Conduct:
- Participants must maintain dignity and respect the organizers, judges, and fellow participants.
- Use of electronic devices or unfair means during the quiz will result in immediate disqualification.
Attendance:
- Teams must report to the venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
- Teams failing to arrive on time will be disqualified.
AWARDS AND PRIZES:
Winners:
- The winning team will receive a cash prize of NPR 5,000 along with certificates of achievement.
Runners-Up:
- The first runners-up will receive a cash prize of NPR 3,000 and certificates of achievement.
Participation:
- All participating teams will receive certificates of participation as recognition of their efforts.
Additional Perks:
- Winners and runners-up will also receive customized trophies sponsored by our event partners.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Authority:
- The organizing committee reserves the right to modify the rules, schedule, or format of the competition as deemed necessary.
Disqualification:
- Any team found engaging in misconduct, cheating, or violating the rules will be disqualified without prior notice.
Intellectual Property:
All quiz materials, including questions and case studies, are the property of the organizers and cannot be reused or shared without permission.
Liability:
- The organizers will not be held liable for any personal loss, injury, or damage sustained during the event.
Cancellation Policy:
- The organizing committee reserves the right to cancel the event in case of unforeseen circumstances.
