Workshop on Scientific Writing and Poster Preparation

The one-day workshop held at Himalayan WhiteHouse International College on April 5, 2024, jointly organized by Kathmandu Center for Genomics and Research Laboratory (KCGRL) and Kathmandu Research Institute for Biological Sciences (KRIBS), in collaboration with the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and Microbe Notes, focused on enhancing the research capabilities of B. Tech. Biotechnology students. With an attendance of 60 enthusiastic participants, the workshop featured comprehensive sessions led by industry experts.

Sagar Aryal conducted a workshop dedicated to the presentation and design of research posters, providing participants with practical insights aimed at creating visually engaging and informative displays. Dr. Pramod Poudel lead a session focused on scientific writing, which extensively covered ethical considerations in research, methodologies for literature review, and techniques for crafting manuscripts. Additionally, Santosh Khanal delivered a detailed discourse on the implications of DNA sequencing technology in clinical research, offering attendees a forward-looking perspective on the role of biotechnology in advancing scientific frontiers. These sessions collectively enriched participants’ understanding and equipped them with essential skills relevant to their academic and professional endeavors in the field of biotechnology.

Participants actively engaged in the sessions, demonstrating improved skills in conducting literature reviews, developing research proposals, and designing effective presentation posters. The workshop successfully achieved its objectives of enriching participants’ understanding of current trends in microbial research and fostering ethical research practices. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dilip Bhattarai, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, for his invaluable support and contribution to the success of the workshop on Scientific Writing and Poster Preparation. His guidance and encouragement played a pivotal role in organizing and executing the event smoothly.
